Day 1: KIGALI CITY TOUR EXPLORATION & NYAMIRAMBO WOMEN

Breakfast at the hotel our professional Love Rwanda Safaris guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning and brief you on your trip, later start the Kigali city exploration. Get to learn more about Rwanda from the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial era as well as Genocide times.

Visit the Genocide memorial where 250,000 were put to rest in mass graves.

Visit the Campaign against Genocide museum. This museum tells part of the many Rwanda’s sad stories of the yesteryears, of despair, struggling to free people from the yoke of subjugation, the efforts and the sacrifices that were suffered and written during the time of rescuing the Tutsi from the strangling hands of Interahamwe; the campaign that was started from the parliament buildings and became successful, a “Campaign Against Genocide” (CAG Museum) was built in the parliamentary compound.

Lunch at any hotel or restaurant around, then in the afternoon visit Nyamirambo women center, where a group of women are working together towards their development, visit their sowing cooperative, This village will also give you insight on the every-day life, social events, trade and struggles if a variety of different cultural and religious groups that live in this crowded neighborhood. You have a chance of buying some souvenirs. Later time permitting visit local markets and art galleries.

In the evening, we can take you to the Crystal View Cocktail Lounge on the eighth floor of the Top Tower Hotel where the panoramic views overlooking the entire city of Kigali are second to none!. As striking at night as it is during the day, one is reminded exactly why Rwanda is known as “the Land of a Thousand Hills”.

DAY 2: TRANSFER TO AKAGERA – GAME DRIVE & BOAT CRUISE AT LAKE IHEMA

Our professional Love Rwanda Safaris guide will Meet & greet you at your hotel in the morning and brief you on your trip. Drive to Akagera National Park passing through Rwanda’s phenomenal landscapes and living lifestyles. You have an option of stopovers for stretch and visiting some craft markets. Check in at the hotel in good time for lunch. In the afternoon drive to Lake Ihema for a thrilling boat cruise to see schools of hippos, Giant crocodiles, water birds, Buffaloes and etc.

Day 3: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE OUT OF THE PARK & DRIVE BACK TO KIGALI

Early morning breakfast followed by Check out from your hotel then start a game drive by searching for unseen on the previous game drive with a spectacular sunrise and early morning bird songs. You will enjoy the beautiful scenery and landscape through the northern circuit where you are likely to spot hippos, antelopes, buffaloes and even more wildlife than on the lake shore circuit to north exit. You will have a packed lunch box and soft drinks for the day.

 

After your game drive head back to Kigali at your hotel

Day 4: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE PARK ENROUTE VISIT AT KING’S PALACE MUSEUM

Early in the morning after breakfast you will drive to Nyungwe National Park, you will have a stopover along the way and visit the famous King’s Palace in Nyanza, which offers visitors a window into pre-colonial Rwandan history and the National Museum of Rwanda, providing you with a deeper insight into Rwandan history and culture. We will then continue on to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Nyungwe is the only destination in the world where you can see up to 13 species of primates in a single location, including rare species of Chimpanzees, the Blue Monkeys, L’Hoest’s Monkeys and the Angolan black and white Colobus Monkeys.

Nyungwe is one of the most important Birding Areas in Rwanda; the park is also home to almost 300 species of birds, making it a bird watcher’s paradise!

Day 5: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND CANOPY WALK WAY

Early breakfast at 4:30am then drive to the edge of the forest where chimpanzee trekking starts, as you hike you will be hearing their deafening screams, their hoots, and cackles.  Unlike with the Mountain Gorillas who are quite calm as you visit them, the chimpanzees are on the move both on the ground and in the Trees. You get one hour with the chimpanzees in Nyungwe, one hour that is quite memorable. Be back to the hotel to refresh and have  lunch later return to the Park reception, briefing followed by a walk to the famous canopy walk way. A 70meter high artificial bridge which allows you to see beautiful views of the old forest from the top . You will also get chance to see some birds at the tree crowns.

Day 6: MONKEY TRACKING OR WATER FALL HIKING TRANSFER TO KIBUYE- LAKE KIVU.

Early breakfast later transfer to the park reception for briefing or grouping. On this day you will choose between tracking monkeys or hike to the beautiful Kamiranzovu waterfall in the park. As you do the trek/hike, you will get to see beautiful fauna and flora in the park and through well designed trails.

 

In the afternoon transfer to Kibuye, the Rwanda’s most attractive of lake ports, nestled in a series of interwoven and undulating hills and offering visitors spectacular views of the lake, its islands and the stunning surrounding countryside. It is considered one of Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with its lush green hills and peaceful breeze.

Day 7: BOAT CRUISE AT NAPALEON & PEACE ISLAND

Breakfast at the shores of Lake Kivu; enjoy the boat ride to Napoleon and Peace Islands. The islands introduce you to many wonders of Rwanda; the beautiful scenery and breathtaking landscapes; birds and many fruit bats etc. Time permitting doing an exclusive nature walk on one of the islands will be very rewarding for any visitor. This will be the best chance to take pictures of the Lake Views, mountains and landscapes.

Day 8: MORNING TRANSFER TO GISENYI

This morning we will continue on to the town of Gisenyi. With its waterfront and sandy beaches and excellent views of Lake Kivu, Gisenyi is a wonderful place to relax, having a captivating feel of a tropical beach resort. The afternoon will be spent relaxing and re-energizing or we can offer you the choice of a value-added activity as follows:

Visit hot springs and learn about the geographic make-up of the Virunga volcanic chain.

Visit local projects in the area eg coffee experience tour and interact with project members.

Visit local artisans and a local women’s weaving association and see how your visit makes a difference in their lives later drive to Musanze for your hotel.

Day 9: GORILLAS TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Early in the morning after breakfast and thereafter Head straight to the park offices for briefing about the gorillas and allocation of gorilla groups and Park Guides.

Thereafter drive to the starting point of your trek where you will get into the montane rain forest and start searching for the mountain gorillas.

You will find them doing their daily chores of feeding their young ones, climbing trees and others just relaxing. Take your best photographs having switched off your flash. You will spend a maximum of one (1) hour observing them in their natural Habitat and then walk back down where your guide will be waiting for you. Drive back to the hotel for lunch and some relaxation. Then in the Afternoon visit the Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund International center/museum to learn about her great work of saving gorillas from extinction.

Day 1O: GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will meet your Love Rwanda Safaris Guide and drive to Volcanoes National Park Office, arrival expected not later than 07:00 am. Once arrived, go on with park procedures and golden monkey pre-hike briefing, followed by a drive to the point where your walk and trekking searching monkeys begins. Upon sighting, you will spend one (1hr) treasured hour with the little primates of Virunga. After the trek, descend as you walk down where your guide is waiting you, Drive to your hotel for refreshment and lunch then have a leisure afternoon enjoying hotel amenities like swimming pool and etc..

DAY 11: GORILLA GUADIAN VILLAGE / CANOEING

Morning transfer to the Gorilla Guadian Village former name Iby’iwacu Cultural Village, based in the community bordering Volcanoes National Park. At the village, you will have a wonderful, interactive experience, learning all about Rwandan traditions, culture, song and dance. You can participate in local dances and drumming, all while wearing traditional local “Umushanana” dress; shooting arrows, attending a traditional healer’s medicine show , you will also have the opportunity to sample local food and banana beer and visit a local household or school. As well, you can choose to visit some of the local community projects and co-operatives to see, first hand, how your travel with us contributes to making a difference in people’s lives.

In the afternoon you will have a short excursion in the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes is the perfect way to see the lush African countryside with its patchwork of small farms for which Rwanda is so famous! This morning floating down to Mukungwa a gentle river and Spending about 2½ – 3 hours canoeing , you’ll be surrounded by abundant birds (at least 35 species have been sighted) may see otters, meet friendly communities, witness rural life find just a little excitement on the water.

Day 12: TRANSFER TO KIGALI /AIRPORT.

Morning breakfast followed by check out of your hotel then your driver will pick you up then drive to Kigali, time permitting you will have optional last minute of shopping in the artisan galleries and shops.
