​​6 Days Uganda Chimpanzee trekking and Wildlife

Chimpanzee Trekking is the best adventure for chimps’ lovers! On this trip, visit Kibale Forest, a tropical rainforest with the highest density of chimpanzees in Africa. The forest is home to 13 other species of primates. You will then visit Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drives, launch cruise and exploring the crater lakes of the Albertine region.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transfer to your hotel in Entebbe.

Dinner and overnight at Boma Guesthouse or similar

Day 2: Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by our guide  for a transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. You will arrive in late afternoon and take a rest at the balcony of your lodge of get active and enjoy a swim at the lodge.

Dinner and over night at Primate Lodge or similar

Kibale Forest has the highest number of primates in Africa – thirteen species in all, including red, black and white colobus, blue monkeys and baboons and a large number of chimpanzees. A forest walk provides a high possibility of seeing and hearing the vast number of chimps and other primates playing and jumping around through the forest. With over 300 bird species recorded in the forest, Kibale boasts of many rewarding experiences not thought of in some other forests of Africa. An excursion to Bigodi wetland gives the opportunity of seeing the unusual birds, chimps, baboons, monkeys and other primates which live around the swamp. Money paid for Bigodi goes directly to the local communities.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking

The starts with briefing at the park briefing point and thereafter go for an early morning chimpanzee tracking in the forest and experience the excitement of the sight of a lot of chimpanzees. Along the way, you might also see other animals like the forest elephants, buffaloes, leopards, bush pig and duiker, lions, warthogs, reptiles and amphibians as well as a colorful variety of butterflies.

We will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp area.

Dinner and overnight stay at Primate Lodge.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast we will continue our westward drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with your first game drive as you enter the park on your way to your accommodation for the night.

Later in the afternoon, you will have time to explore the waters as you enjoy the 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This launch trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and bird species in the whole park.

Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or similar

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park

We will have a full day in the park on game drives and any other activities of your choice. Our day will begin with an early morning game drive with a magnificent view of the Rwenzoris as backdrop provides an excellent opportunity to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck. You will then return to your lodge for lunch.

After lunch, have time to rest at the balcony of your lodge overlooking the Kazinga Channel or take a swim in the lodge’s swimming pool.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge

This morning, we will have a guided walk to the Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee trekking. The gorge has a group of chimpanzees that are habituated but on your walk, you will sport other animals including hoppos and forest elephants as well as other bird species that are forest dwellers.

After the hike, we will then drive back to Kampala with a stopover at Mbarara for lunch and later on at the equator.
