4 Days Gorilla safari in Rwanda 

This is another gorilla trekking adventure in Rwanda! On this lifetime adventure, you will trek the rare mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, in Rwanda, golden monkeys and trek to visit Dian Fossey’s grave in Rwanda.

Volcanoes National Park

Situated in the northern part of Rwanda, the park is a home to approximately 300 individual mountain gorillas. In the park, there are ten Gorilla families are habituated for tracking and accessed by the tourists. They include; Mahoro and Umubano families found on the Visoke volcano, Hirwa family on the Sabinyo volcano and Sabinyo family located between the Sabinyo and Visoke volcanoes. There are also Susa family with 38 individuals on the Karisimbi volcano and 17 individuals on the Sabinyo volcano. There is Kwitonda family as well. Each of the Gorilla families allows a maximum of 8 tourists tracking per day. On addition to gorilla tracking, you may also climb the Visoke volcano and track other primates including golden monkeys. You will also visit the Dian Fossey’sKarisoke Research Centre on a village walk.


Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Upon your arrival in Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our guide who will transfer you to your lodge in PNV.

Alternatively, depending on your flight time (for morning flights and those with overnight in Kigali), you will have a city of Kigali followed by lunch and later transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes National Park

Very early in the morning set off and transfer to the park to catch up with briefing before heading for gorilla trekking in Volcano National Park. Normally it takes between 2 – 4 hours to encounter the mountain gorillas in the jungle and you will spend an hour with the gorillas. After the face to face experience with the mountain gorillas in the wilderness return to the lodge for lunch. Relax in the evening or visit the local community. If time allows, we will have an afternoon excursion to explore the beautiful lakes in the region (Lake Bulera and Ruhondo).

Day 3: Dian Fossey’s Grave / Golden Monkey Tracking

After breakfast, visit of the Dian Fossey grave at (Bisoke) or track the Golden Monkeys in Virunga National park (Virunga). This ady has different optional activities including mountain hikes to Karisimbi or Visoke, visiting Iby’Iwacu cultural village among others

After breakfast at your lodge in Volcanoes National Park, we will take a scenic drive back to Kigali for your afternoon international flight.
