Bwindi and Mgahinga National Park Lodges

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has a wide range of lodges and hotels available for different budgets. Some of the hotels are close to the National Park or briefing points, others are around Lake Mutanda and Lake Bunyonyi while others in the nearby towns like Kisoro for those tracking in Mgahinga National Park or Congo.

Travellers Rest Hotel, Kisoro

The hotel is built in a somewhat colonial style and was entirely renovated in 1999. It has 12 rooms at very reasonable prices, and it offers a cozy environment to relax in after gorilla treks or day visits to the area.

Sitting on the terrace you can smell the sweetish perfume of the honeysuckle, and in the evenings, when it gets cooler, you can warm yourself by the fireplace, outside or in the lounge.

From far away the huge cones of the Virunga volcanoes dominate the landscape and beckon as you approach. The surrounding landscape is of astonishing beauty. The volcano mountains offer spectacular views on the Rift Valley and the emerald-green Lake Mutanda in the distance. Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is situated in Nkuringo, bordering the south western corner of the Bwindi National Park. It is at 2100m with a sweeping panoramic view of the magnificent Virunga Volcanoes and the Great Rift Valley. Weather Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is open throughout the year.

Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge

The Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is 2161m ASL on the Nteko ridge overlooking a beautiful swath of the World-renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The ridge provides a superb vantage across the Kashasha River Valley to the forested hill known as ‘Nkuringo’ and the surrounding swathe of trees of the Bwindi Forest.

Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge’s 16 rooms are split into 2 categories, the Garden Cottages and the 2 Bedroom Villas.

Consisting of 8 Garden Chalets ‘Cottages and 3 2 in 1 Bedroom Villa & family villa. From the veranda of each cottage there are stunning views out to either the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or the Virunga Volcanoes. The huge interiors feature a sitting area with a fireplace and either twin or double bed – all beds measure 7 feet, giving a lot of leg room. At the rear of each cottage is a large bathroom decorated in stone tile, a shower and double basins.

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp’s unique interpretation of camp living offers unrivalled seclusion and space in the ancient rainforest in one of Africa’s most remarkable landscapes. Located in one of the remotest areas of Africa, these comfortable canvas spaces are dressed with indigenous prints and furniture made from natural materials. Beds are draped in neutral-toned linens, and local artefacts set a scene that ensures memorable moments both inside and out the accommodation.

Volcanoes Bwindi LodgeThe luxury forest lodge in Bwindi, fully renovated in 2018, now features a redesigned guest lounge and dining area that bring the feel of the forest into the stylish interiors. The main living area has a central fireplace which acts as a focal point for guests to relax and discuss their gorilla tracking experience. A newly designed outdoor terrace gives dramatic views of the impenetrable forest and is a great place to spot the monkeys and birds hidden in the foliage.

The eight standard bandas, each having their own view of the forest, have been been totally restyled with warm luxurious interiors and inviting four poster beds and locally-inspired furniture​. A new Deluxe Banda has opened in June 2019 and one more will be opening later in the year.

Silverback Lodge is perched on high, atop the valley overlooking Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The view is absolutely stunning and the best place to enjoy après-tracking cocktails. Bird watching and sometimes primate viewing is possible right from the front door of your room.
